Jeff Carmichael

After a career of more than 30 years with the City of Toronto in municipal recreation and sport development, and having served as the Executive Director of the Toronto Sports Council, Jeff continues to work on projects that build healthier communities. He provides project and program support to several organizations including HIGH FIVE Ontario (a quality children's program standard of Parks and Recreation Ontario), the Canadian Sport Film Festival and the Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario. Jeff has led and experienced a variety of community engagement approaches that have addressed critical community issues.

He has provided more than 2 years of backbone support to the East Scarborough Multi-Sport Collaborative and has initiated the development of a sport collective impact project in the Rexdale and Albion neighbourhoods of Toronto. Jeff has taught in sport management programs at Humber College and York University. He has been a volunteer Director on the Board of several provincial organizations including the Lifesaving Society Ontario, Sport Ontario, Parks and Recreation Federation of Ontario and Community Sport Councils Ontario. Jeff has worked with a variety of health-related sectors and has experienced the value of using a collective impact approach to address local issues and build sustainable local capacity.
